Vogel was born into a diverse cultural background, with an Armenian American mother and a Jewish father. Tragically, her father passed away when Vogel was still an infant, leaving her mother to raise her. Vogel’s Armenian roots are significant, as her mother’s family fled the horrors of the Armenian Genocide. They originated from a small village called Evereg, now part of Develi in the Kayseri Province of Turkey.
Her mother was born and raised in New York but moved the family to California when Vogel was just two years old, where Anita spent most of her childhood. Growing up with a strong sense of her Armenian heritage and a connection to her family’s survival story, Vogel carried that history with her throughout her life and career.
