In our previous posts, we have been talking about rappers, movie stars, and TikTok superstars but today we’re going to look at something different, I’m taking you to the Philadelphia newsstands to talk about the one and only Bob Kelly.
So who is this guy and why do people love him so much? Bob is not just your regular news reporter he is a sweet kind man who thinks of everybody else before thinking of himself, His co-workers love him so much that they once dedicated a special video welcoming him back to the studio after being out for some time.
Let’s talk about how he started his career, First Bob used to be a disc Jockey alongside “The Geator” or Jerry Blavat. He graced the fans from Philadelphia’s best radio stations before working as a traffic anchor on his first-ever traffic news gig on KYW News Radio.
After working on Radio for a while, Bob moved to TV precisely working as a traffic news anchor for CBS 3 News in Philadelphia where he worked for 13 years and becoming the first ever Philly traffic journalist to work in front of a green screen.
After his 13-year stint at CBS 3, Bob finally moved to FOX 29 New joining them in October 2014 to report “Good Day Philadelphia” and other segments like “Breakfast With Bob” and, “Town Take Over”.
Bob’s job is quite fun he also has another show called “Kelly Drives” where he gets to drive through town for half an hour every week showcasing Philly and its beautiful destinations to his viewers, You can catch every episode of Kelly Drives every Thursday at 6:30 pm.
That’s not all, Bob also has another segment for all the Christmas lovers called “A Very Kelly Christmas” where he drives through Philly the whole festive month and makes live reports on the beautifully decorated homes and lawns of the Philly residents.
Early Life & Background
Growing up in Philly, Bob went to North Catholic High School and later joined Temple University, you can already feel the Philly in his blood right? He is crazy about the delicious jelly donuts around Philly too.
Personal Life
For those of us who don’t know yet, Bob has been married twice, he was first married to a beautiful lady called Colleen, and they had two daughters together before calling it quits in 2008. After Divorcing Colleen, Bob married his new wife “Carrie Kelly”, and they live together in Malvern, Philadelphia. Bob also has two grandkids.
