Sun was arrested and faced eight federal charges in September 2024 for allegedly acting as an undisclosed agent for the Chinese government.
So who is Linda Sun? Her career in the New York State government has been marked by a steady rise through various influential positions, showcasing her dedication and versatility in public service. She began her career in the legislative branch in 2009, where she quickly gained a bit of fame.
One of her most notable early roles was serving as chief of staff to Assemblywoman Grace Meng. During her time in this position, she played a crucial role in supporting Meng, who later became a congresswoman.
In 2012, Sun took a significant step forward in her career by joining the Cuomo administration. She was hired as the director of Asian American affairs and served as the Queen’s regional representative.
In this role, she worked closely with the Asian American community, advocating for their needs and ensuring their voices were heard within the state government. Linda was born in China but later moved to the United States while she was still young with her parents. For her studies, She went to Barnard College where she earned her undergraduate degree in political science in 2006. She later joined Columbia University and received a master’s degree in education in 2009.
